- 🟣 Does more = better?
🟣 Does more = better?
I have strong opinions on this
Well butter my crumpet and call me Barbara…
If it isn't my favourite little Yorkshire pudding!
Can we chat about something that's been making my eye twitch more than PT’s slagging off new gym goers in January?
This idea that you’re NEVER doing enough.
You’ll hear this waffle from guys with black and white filters on their videos who refuse to go to therapy.
Training 5 days a week?
WHY NOT SEVEN? HUH? YOU TOAD!
Hitting a PB on your deadlift?
STILL A WEAK LITTLE BITCH!
Averaging 8k steps a day?
WHY IS IT NOT FIFTEEN YOU LAZY FUCKIN’ POTATO!
*deep breaths to avoid violence*
Look, you can always do more.
But it doesn’t mean you should.
And it certainly doesn’t mean you’ll be better off for doing more.
Let’s say you’re exercising three times a week.
Upping this to five for the sake of doing more means something’s got to give.
So if you had time to chill, watch TV, read, practice a hobby, go round your Mum’s for a catch up…
You’re now filling that time with two more workouts.
Which means you’re not doing things that are good for your soul and your noggin’.
Let me tell you about someone who just absolutely smashed her goals by doing the complete opposite of what these muppets suggest.
She came to Team Henley after years of trying to do ALL THE THINGS.
Worried she wasn't doing enough.
Anxiety about not having "huge gym goals".
Sound familiar?
But instead of pushing her to "go hard or go home", we did something revolutionary...
We kept it simple.
*gasp*
No pressure to smash out deadlift PBs.
No requirement to live in the gym.
No need to count the calories in her toothpaste.
Just consistent, basic and enjoyable actions that she could actually stick to.
And you know what happened?
She's been more consistent than ever before.
Her relationship with food has completely changed.
She's seeing physical changes without the mental drama.
And most importantly? She feels GOOD.
Not just "I survived another workout" good.
But "I'm actually enjoying this and can see myself doing it forever" good.
Turns out, simple isn't just sustainable - it's bloody effective.

And remember: more does not equal better .
