I had a flustered DM slide into my inbox
They’d signed up to a coach who had suggested having fruit with breakfast and she was worried she signed up to a nutter who was trying to kill her
And I’m not surprised - fitness content has always done us dirty. I know she’s not alone in believing a the resulting sugar spike of a carb will see you drop dead on a random Tuesday
But fuck me… this is the real horror show this spooky season.
Not the fake cobwebs or plastic skeletons.
Not even the grown adults dressed as sexy corn on the cob.
It's the fact that we've been scared so shitless by shirtless cockwombles chatting shite in supermarkets that we treat normal food like it's out to get us.
Carbs are evil. Sugar is poison. Fruit will kill you.
Fucking FRUIT.
We've turned eating into some weird survival game where one wrong move and you've apparently ruined your life.
It's exhausting. And it's bollocks.
Health is far more complex than “just don’t eat chocolate” and you’ll be healthy. The poison is in the dose.
We can all agree water is good for you, right? Yet you can still die from drinking too much water.
And foods that offer little nutrients but a lot of oral joy? They won’t kill you with a sniff.
They just likely cause issues if consumed in excess over extended periods of time - which is the real bit most people struggle with.
Zooming out further your health runs far deeper than the singular foods you eat, too.
Exercise, sleep, stress management, mental health, social connection to name a few.
You deserve better than becoming riddled with anxiety because you want to grab pizza with pals or lick whipped cream off a nipple
