🟣 Kate Winslet is coming for you

(no, not like that you dirty devil x)

There are two types of people in this world,

Those that believe The Holiday is the best Christmas film

And those that are wrong

But in case you’ve not seen it - there’s a moment in the film where Kate Winslet get absolutely called out on her bullshit.

She’s been letting this English todger-toff treat her like a doormat and then an old American dude basically tells her to get a fucking grip and

Be the leading lady of her own damn life.

I hate to admin how much I think about this scene (maybe my Roman Empire??)

Because while we might not have some dead beat guy humiliating us

I think we do quietly do the exact same thing

In that it’s so fucking easy to put everyone else before ourselves.

Kids. Partners. Friends. Colleagues. Pets.

And then we wonder why we can’t “stay consistent.”

My kinky creme brulee… you’re barely staying conscious.

It’s not that you don’t care about your fitness.

It’s just that you treat your wellbeing the same way you treat the instruction manual for flat-pack furniture:

You’ll get to it when life is less chaotic… AKA never.

That’s why the Kate Winslet moment hits.

Not because we need a Hollywood monologue,

But because we occasionally need reminding that we’re allowed to choose ourselves OUTSIDE of the damn to-do list

And choosing yourself doesn’t have to be dramatic.

Divorcing your partner and sending your kids to Antarctica to declare your independence

You just need a little gumption… ;)

Tiny acts of “I matter too.”

I’m watching this play out right now with one of my 1-1 clients.

She turned 50 last weekend and has just done a full-on photoshoot (fucking LOOK AT HER).

Getting fuckin flirty with the camera as she’s back feeling her damn self

And this is someone who’s navigated menopause being a right devil this year. Rough seasons of mental health. Days/weeks where showing up would’ve been very easy to sack off.

But she didn’t.

She kept choosing herself. Quietly. Repeatedly. On the boring days.

Replacing a morning of scrolling and TV with a lil walk to get dopamine flowin’

Peeling herself away for 10-20 minutes every Sunday to lay out her week with me to make sure we’re heading into the week with intention.

Hitting the gym sessions she royally couldn’t be arsed to do as she knew she would be grateful for it tomorrow.

A lot of the process is not glamorous.

But it is what’s required to be the version of yourself you actually want to be.

And if you want support stepping into that “leading lady energy”, Hans Zimmer soundtrack included, we have spots open to start your journey with our 1-1 coaching program in 2026
