🟣 "Should you be eating that?"

how to handle the food police 👮‍♂️🚨

Well hello there, you dishy little dim sum!

Let me paint you a picture that might feel a bit too familiar...

You're at a family dinner, enjoying your food, when your Aunt Susan pipes up with:

"Oh, I thought you were trying to get healthy"

internal screaming intensifies

Or maybe it's your mum pointing out your "chunky calves" (true story, some muppet's mum actually did this).

Or Karen from accounts asking if you're "really going to eat ALL of that?"

Now, I’m not a violent person.

But this shit makes me want to dish out drop kicks like…

SKADOOSH 💥🥋

WHA-BLAM 💥🥋

KA-POWWWW 💥🥋

But I resist this initial violent urge.

Because most of these comments? They're not actually about you at all.

They're just people projecting their own fears and body image struggles onto you.

Your mum's not trying to be a knob.

She's probably just repeating the same toxic bollocks she heard in the 80s when magazines were telling women to survive on rice cakes and 60 cigarettes a day.

That doesn't mean you have to sit there and take it though.

Setting boundaries doesn't make you a dick.

It makes you a grown-up who values their peace.

But here's where it gets spicy...

You can set those boundaries AND keep the peace by understanding where these comments come from.

Try this next time someone comments on your food/body:

1. Take a breath (instead of adopting your fighting stance).

2. Remember: their comments are about THEIR issues, not you

3. Respond with kindness but firmness like this…

"I appreciate you care, but I'm happy with my choices"

"Thanks, but I trust my body and what it needs"

"I'd rather not discuss my body/food, thanks!"

Setting boundaries with kindness isn't just good for you - it creates ripples.

Every time you stand up for yourself with grace, you're showing someone else it's possible.

And that's how we change things, one "no thank you" at a time.

If you're looking for a bit more support on your journey, my team and I do offer 1:1 coaching.

No pressure at all, but if you're interested, just go here and apply.

Big love,

Rachel 🥰
