š£ The no.1 gym priority
hint: it aināt PBās š
Well hello my saucy sliced salami.
Let's talk about getting started in the gym.
Because it's fucking terrifying, isn't it?
Walking into what feels like someone else's space.
Where everyone seems to know exactly what they're doing.
While you're stood there like a fucking nun at an orgy.
Brutal stuff, right?
But what if the reason for all this fuckery was a simple mistake youāre making inside that nogginā of yours?
A mistake thatās absolutely not your fault by the way.
Let me treat this like a cozy blanket and lay it on youā¦
If the gym is a scary place for you then your number one priority isnāt doing a certain exercise or lifting a specific weight.
Your number one priority is getting comfortable.
It's why I tell all my newbies to start with the machines.
They're simple, safe and often far away from the free weights section.
You can get used to lifting weights in different ways.
Build your confidence.
And going from machine to machine gets you moving around the gym so youāre taking up space in different areas.
But itās not just about using machines.
You also need a plan.
Because a plan removes uncertainty.
Without a plan you have to answer these questionsā¦
š± What machine should I use?
š± How many reps should I do?
š± How many sets should I do?
š± What order should I go in?
Pretty easy to see how this can turn you into an overwhelmed egg, right?
This is why having ANY kind of plan is better than winging it to fuck.
Letās say you do this for your next workout (all machines):
šŖ Leg Press - 3 x 8-12 - 2 mins rest between sets
šŖ Chest Press - 3 x 8 - 2 mins rest between sets
šŖ Lat Pulldown - 3 x 8-12 - 2 mins rest between sets
šŖ Shoulder Press - 3 x 8-12 - 2 mins rest between sets
Or you give this a go: Busy gym workout (not machine based but you only need dumbbells and a bench).
You have a plan.
You can do a little mental runthrough before you go into the gym.
And I bet youāll have a cracking workout.
