🟣 Hairball dumpling anyone?

China cuisine gone wrong

Turns out, China is apparently like travelling on ā€˜hard mode’

I landed in Shanghai Sunday & got I got chatting with someone who was coming back to China from Australia

She asked if I had learned any Mandarin;

My reply?

ā€œI know hello, thank you and happy new yearā€

She answered,

ā€œgood luckā€

And well… fuck

Turns out luck was indeed, needed.

Don’t get my knickers twisted. I don’t expect places outside of England to be translating for the sake of lil out me

But on previous travels my broken sign language or Translation Apps had been enough to find a vague understanding of each other

But not here.

Translating on Apps, Chinese to English? This is where I’ve gotten to:

Hair Ball dumpling anyone?

Their translation to English?

I am quite alright, thank you x

So fuck knows what is coming out their end when I am typing into my translation for them

By the looks on their face each time… it might as well be fucking French

But that aside - China is proving to be an insanely beautiful place and one I am insanely excited to continue to explore.

Not to sound like a whimsical 21 year old on a gap year - I would not be where I am today without travel

4 years ago I boarded a solo, one way trip to Vietnam and fell in love with adventuring from there

Because despite everything feeling as foreign as it can be, it fucking slaps your perception of the world.

It forces you into discomfort of the unknown and makes you work through doing hard shit.

I think there’s a misconception I feel around confidence that people just ā€œhave itā€

And it’s easy to wish your life away wishing you had the confidence of someone you perceive to have it by the bucket load.

But as someone who grew up with crippling anxiety and wouldn’t say boo to a goose until her early 20s

I think that’s bullshit

In my eyes, confidence is earned.

Solo travelling, even when I was shitting myself about doing it, is exactly what built my confidence and audacity to do what I’ve done with Henley Fitness

And I wish more people would do just a lil of what scared them to build that confidence brick by brick, rather than wait for it to find them

I’m not saying you need to book a trip to Vietnam or China

But with the gym..?

Stop fucking waiting for you to feel confident enough or in shape enough to go

Go first.

Ease yourself in should you need to.

Get your hands dirty and just SEE what it does to your confidence from there.

Because spoiler alert: the confidence you dream of is sitting on the other side of the work you’re currently putting off.

And if the idea of walking into the gym feels like me trying to order food in broken Mandarin, that’s exactly why I built the Bits App.

I don’t want you on the gym floor or with your dumbbells at home, guessing at what the bloody hell to do - translating each exercise and hoping for the best.

Within Bits, you have a plan.

You have every tutorial you’ll need (with bonus jokes)

You have every bit of education you need to know exactly how to set up your nutrition alongside your training to build real results.

And you can start for free today with a 7 day trial:

With it, start your program. Do the first session this week, even if you’re shitting yourself a lil bit.

And I promise you’ll be feeling more confident with it by the end of even that first session.

Big love
