🟣 Cheek to cheek with a man

Not my ideal but here we are

Not everyday you’re cheek to cheek with a man wearing a blow up sumo suit

But that’s exactly where I ended up last week with my face cheek planted against a sumo wrestler’s arse cheek as I attempted to rugby tackle the fucker down

For context, I’m in Japan and the “sumo experience” takes you through understanding the sport of sumo, watching matches then opens the floor to try your chances against the fighters

So obviously I gave it a go

And with it, charging into the fella felt like charging into a wall made of man meat

(would not do again x)

But learning about the way of the sumo is fucking mad

On average, they consume 8-10,000 calories per day split into 2 meals

One of the greatest sumo wrestlers of all time, Hakuho Sho, weighed in at 155kg (342lbs)

He trained everyday for decades, winning 45 championships and 1187 matches.

By all definitions - the bloke was a fucking unit and an incredibly athlete.

But it got me thinking about how inward and one-dimensional we can be when thinking about our bodies

I know from a young age there was always a pressure to look a certain way - small, feminine, petite and all that jazz.

Think we’ve all felt that pressure and sometimes still feel it

But this is why I think sport and training can be one of the best fucking things we can do for our body image.

Because it’s an avenue to start thinking about your body beyond what it looks like.

Instead of our bodies being something we need to control into being smaller via starvation

We can start focusing on “how can my body feel and perform it’s best?”

Building up cardio fitness to smash out more hikes and runs to play with the world

Building more muscle mass so you can lift big things and crush your enemies (if desired)

And hell, even if you have an aesthetic goal, having resistance training as a corner stone to that so you’re improving muscle definition, strength and mobility feels fucking wicked

It’s exactly why we build Bits the way we did, too.

As within Bits you gain access to 5 core programs.

We have the home and the wiggle programs for general strength/just getting started with resistance training.

Then we have Build, Move and Strong.

Build is focused on building a strong and defined physique, while improving strength and mobility.

Stong is focused on lifting fucking heavy shit - pushing performance on squats, bench, deadlifts.

Move is focused on improving your cardio alongside base level strength for a hybrid style of training.

With each of these programs having a new 8 week training phase added every 8 weeks to continue to push your performance over months/years.

We also have some bonus add ons like the 0-5k and 5-10k running plans or nailing your first pull up program that can be paired with the core programs which the gang love, too!

Because as much as picking up any old program and fucking about with it is fun

But having a program that’s structured, goal specific and progressive? That has you hitting endless PBs and sees your body changing as a byproduct of your hard work?

That’s damn near erotic.

So hit the link below and let’s get fucking wiggling:

Big love
